How Dental Implants Can Improve Your Quality of Life
Dental implants are an advanced restorative treatment to replace missing teeth. These small implant posts are surgically placed in your jaw to uphold a crown, bridge, or even a full denture. Dr. Ron DiRezze can both place and restore traditional or mini dental implants at our Shelby Township, MI, practice. You can trust in his expert care to receive a durable restoration customized for your needs.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are designed to replace the roots of missing teeth. The implant itself is a small titanium post that is surgically embedded into the jawbone before being attached to durable restorations. Over the next few months, the implant fuses to the jawbone through a process called osseointegration. Dental implants are considered the best form of tooth replacement because of this fusion. This advanced restorative treatment prevents jawbone shrinkage by sending out regenerative signals and provides the ultimate level of support for implants, bridges, and dentures.

During your initial consultation, Dr. DiRezze will thoroughly review your medical history and will use our advanced technology to take detailed scans and impressions of your teeth and jaw. He will conduct a CT (computerized tomography) scan to create a detailed treatment plan. All of this information will allow Dr. DiRezze to determine if you are a candidate before having to start any procedures.
Occasionally, patients will not have sufficient bone density to support dental implants or to prevent the implants from entering the sinus cavity. If you require preparatory procedures, Dr. DiRezze can refer you to a specialist for bone grafting or sinus lift surgeries. Once you have healed from these procedures, Dr. DiRezze can proceed with dental implants.
Dr. DiRezze is dedicated to his patients' comfort during treatment. He provides both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation options to help increase relaxation during dental implants treatment.
Implant Restorations
Crowns
A single implant can serve as the base for a dental crown, which is a custom-crafted, single-tooth replacement. Implants will support a crown instead of a traditional dental bridge to replace a single tooth. This treatment can preserve surrounding teeth, avoiding alteration or reshaping to provide support for restorations.

Types of Implants
Dr. DiRezze offers traditional and mini dental implants. Traditional implants will require stronger, denser jawbones for placement. Mini implants are smaller, requiring less jawbone strength. These alternatives are also more affordable than traditional implants, but can be less durable. As a type of mini implant, Keystone implants require less bone tissue as an anchor. Consequently, they allow patients to bypass the need for bone grafting and can reduce healing time by four to five months. Dr. DiRezze can help you decide on the right type of implants for your specific needs.
