Advanced, Innovative Dental Technology
To ensure that our patients receive the most efficient and comfortable care possible, Dr. Ron DiRezze incorporates high-end dental technology into every treatment at our Shelby Township, MI, practice. Dr. DiRezze uses advanced technology to obtain comprehensive information about your oral health and structure. The systems and machines he uses also allows for more complex procedures to be completed precisely while retaining as much of your natural teeth as possible.
Our office utilizes a CT (computerized tomography) scanner for advanced imaging. The CT scanner is a device that takes x-rays to create an accurate model of your entire oral cavity. This model allows Dr. DiRezze to thoroughly plan treatment as well as precisely perform any procedures. These scans are especially helpful in diagnosing and treating TMJ disorders as well as for placing dental implants.
For the comfort of our patients, we offer a digital scanner for taking dental impressions. Instead of creating a physical impression using unpleasant plastic goo and trays, Dr. DiRezze uses the digital scanner to quickly obtain highly accurate scans that can be viewed and altered digitally.
Joint Vibration Analysis
Joint vibration analysis is a diagnostic tool that is used to identify and treat temporomandibular joint (TMJ) conditions. Patients wear this device over their head, similar to headphones, while they sleep so that the device can record any noises that the jaw makes during the night.
Dr. DiRezze uses an intraoral camera, which is a small, hand-held device with a built-in light source. It is about the size of a dental mirror. The intraoral camera allows Dr. DiRezze to zoom in about 25 times on one tooth, or he can make a video of your entire mouth. He can also capture pictures from the video images. Whatever the camera sees, you and Dr. DiRezze can see on a nearby monitor. He will show you any issues that require restorative care. The images from the intraoral camera will allow Dr. DiRezze to thoroughly explain your dental problems and the procedures that he recommends. With this knowledge, you can make informed treatment decisions.
Digital x-rays are the high-tech equivalent of traditional film x-rays. Dr. DiRezze places a small sensor in your mouth that is similar to the film used for traditional x-rays. Instead of needing to be developed like film, the sensor is connected to a computer and the images appear instantly on a screen. Digital x-rays offer several advantages over traditional x-rays:
- Less radiation
- Higher quality images
- Immediate results
- Easy transfer of records to another provider
- Environmentally friendly
- More comfort during scanning process
Digital x-rays also allow Dr. DiRezze to get a more detailed and closer look at your teeth. Problem areas can be detected earlier than with film x-rays, so treatment can be started earlier for more effective results.
Dr. DiRezze utilizes DIAGNOdent equipment that can aid him in detecting cavities and periodontal disease in the earliest stages. Catching these issues before significant damage has been done can lead to less tooth decay and tooth loss, and prevent the need for more extensive restorative procures in the future.
